EYFS Chicks Hatch!

Exciting New Arrivals in EYFS: Chicks Hatch in the Classroom!
This week has been an unforgettable one for our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) students, as they welcomed nine fluffy chicks into their classroom! As part of their ongoing learning about life cycles, the children have been exploring how animals grow and change — and now they've had the incredible opportunity to witness this process in real life.
The chicks began their journey as eggs, carefully incubated in the classroom, sparking curiosity and anticipation among the children. Lots of teachers were also incredibly interested in the eggs. We even had to force Mr Kennerly to go back to class at one point! Their patience and excitement paid off when the first cracks appeared, followed by the joyful emergence of nine healthy chicks.
This hands-on experience has brought the topic of animal life cycles to life in a magical way. The children have been actively involved in caring for the chicks — helping to provide food and water, learning how to handle them gently, and observing their growth and behaviour.
We’re incredibly proud of how engaged and gentle the children have been throughout the process, showing responsibility and compassion as they care for their new feathered friends. It’s been a truly special experience — one we’re sure they’ll remember for a long time to come.
