Governors

Meet our school Governors at Phoenix Primary School!

Chair of Governors

Phil Daniels

I became a member of the Governing Body in 2016 and since 2018 have taken on the role of its Chair. As a retired headteacher of a Liverpool primary school, I hoped I could offer a wealth of experience to a school with similar values to the one of which I was headteacher. Since retiring I became involved in the training of new teachers, as well as providing the headteacher and her staff with the support and advice that has helped to make Phoenix the wonderful school that it is. When I have time to myself, I read a great deal and have fun playing with my grandchildren.

Yvonne Sutton

Having spent many years in schools taking on various roles, including that of SENCO and Inclusion Manager, I now lead the SEND and Inclusive Learning Team at School Improvement Liverpool. The things that make me smile the most are spending time with family, especially my grandchildren, and friends and then in my spare time gardening and taking my dog Maisie for long walks.

Mark Rigby

Hello everyone my name is Mark Rigby and I have been a Governor at Phoenix for a few years now. I am an experienced Headteacher working in Liverpool and my favourite hobbies are pottering in my shed and reading. I love being a Governor at Phoenix, your children are clever, hardworking and their friendliness reminds us all how we should try and behave on our best days.

Sarah Byrne

I became a Parent Governor five years ago, whilst my son attended the Enhanced Provision at Phoenix. During his time, the support he received was life changing. I am very grateful for the opportunities he was given and the kindness and patience shown by all. Phoenix is a wonderful, inclusive, nurturing environment, where all children enjoy learning and staff work tirelessly to ensure the children are at the heart of everything. I am very proud to continue on the Governing Body as co-opted Governor whilst also working in the Enhanced Provision myself. SEND and SEMH in particular are areas I am very passionate about.

John Jordan

I am an Engagement Manager for Local Authorities within the UK Health Security Agency. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking and going for days out with my family.

Alec Vickerson

I am a local joiner, originally from rural County Durham. I moved to Liverpool over 8 years ago, and more recently moved to the local area with my wife and 3 children to be part of a team starting a new church in the area
